Dave, Thanks. I disagree I don't think Ernie was a Brit. I always thought he was an Aussie sure that's what I have been told, came from Queensland went racing in America in 1901 and stayed. Took US citizenship and made tubs. Was in the Meon Valley today still pretty but to many f cars and not bleeding Fords. Looks like the disused railway line is rideable still plenty of trout in the steams and lots of watercress beds. Be lucky Mick.
