The Wisconsin Avenue Shop was the oldest single ownership shop for Raleigh bicycles. Peter Kohler, can you ring in on this for the name fore it escapes me at the moment. Dave Perka was the manager for many years until they finally closed in the mid to late 80's

Dave Perka now works for Alban Caterpillar in Southern MD as a heavy equipment mechanic making over $40/hour.

A query to everybody familiar with the DC area:

Does anyone remember a really cool shop on Wisconsin Avenue, fairly close to Chevy Chase, about the size of the Clean Machine (Carrboro, NC) that existed once upon a time, at least through the mid-80's?

There was a really cool who worked there, seemed like a former racer, and looked very much like Albert Eisentraut. Pretty sure it wasn't him, for many reasons.

The last I saw him (and his shop) he was shaking his head over the new aluminum Peugeot Galaxys (before they were recalled) and he was saying a wonderful comment to someone who had asked him whether or not he thought that (I believe) Kestrel was correct when they called their bikes "the ultimate cycling machine"--his reply: "No, I think THAT is the ultimate cycling machine", pointing to a picture in the same magazine of John Howard.

Would love to know who he was and where he went to, Who knows? He might even be on this list.

All the best,

Ricky Garni Carrboro, NC

OH-he also sold me his chrome Faggin with N Record-$300 complete. Nice guy.
