Yep ... it's original all right. The decal looked familiar to me, but searches through my Torpado photo albums were turning up nothing. Then I went to the section that has upright type bikes, and found a very similar decal on the forks of an early 1960s Torpado Folder (still in Italy). The coloring is slightly different (although that may be attributable to fading on the folder's decals), but the shape is precise. Definitely a Torpado decal. This does introduce the idea that the bike is not from the 1950s. Look closely at the lugs and notice that they have departed from the traditional gaping window style that Torpados are known for. It's my contention that Torpado's use of those big windows continued on into the 1960s, but not on their top end race bikes. This is a good indication of that. A couple other features help confirm that it is very likely an early 1960s build. I've conveyed this to the seller, but he didn't note it in the auction. Nice bike indeed ... but really too small for me ... I will not be bidding this time :(

Dig the decal on the fork blades below the crown - Does anyone know if that's original?
