1959, Bielefeld, Germany. Our very own Ted Ernst (Chicago, IL) before the first heat of a motorpaced event, with trainer/manager Paul M=fcddemann of Dortmund, Germany at his side. These races were usually 80 to 100 kms in length. There were a total of three heats - the rider with the best score won. In the event of a tie, the better placed rider in the 3rd (and longest) heat won.

Picture kindly provided by Ted Ernst. Thanks again, Ted!
