Folks,

I cant thank you enough for the outpouring of concern, thoughts and prayers over the last week. I wholeheartedly appreciate everyone's efforts in this department.

Now, for those who don't know the entire story:

My 5 year old daughter, Julianna, lives in Rochester, NY with her mom Amy. A week ago Friday, a 5 year old boy in Julianna's Pre-K class punched her in the neck. She was given a bag of ice on her neck and she quit crying a minute or two later and was sent back to her seat for the rest of the class. When she got home from school, she told her mom that her neck was hurting because of the incident. Mom gave her some Tylenol and thought it might just be a bruise. Saturday morning, Julianna woke up and couldn't move. Her mom calls me and tells me what happened and I reinforced that she call 911. Xrays at the hospital ER confirmed that she had a broken C2. As soon as I was given a call by her mom, I hit the airport and flew to NY. I got there Sunday evening. Julianna smiled when she saw me, but she wasn't in good shape. She didn't want to eat anything, she wouldn't take her pain meds...(stubborn, just like her mom.) After fitting her for a Halo and setting the neck where it needed to be on Monday, she improved a bit, but still had no appetite.

They released her to go home on Tuesday as they were satisfied about her stability. The recovery process has been going fine, but not as fast as I would like... She is eating better yesterday and today thus far, so I think the hard part of the injury is behind us. The Dr. says she will make a full 100% recovery and live a normal life. But, it was close...he said 3/8 of an inch is all that separated us from having to bury our daughter.

I think at this point the exW and I might look into "anti bully legislation" and try to start something if none has been implemented into the school systems. We have hired and atty to take on the school district for not notifying Amy of the incident. No child should be bullied, no matter the age and especially not hit by another child. While I know fights are normal kid stuff, it can be devastating and almost was for us.

Again, I believe that your thoughts and prayers are what helped Julianna, Amy and I get through this tough time and really want to thank all those who kept us in their minds by sending positive vibes.

Thanks again to you all!

Look forward to seeing you all in San Jose!
