Subject: [CR]Final Nobilette Pics/ Suntour Build up

Dear List:

Thanks to eveyone who said such kind words about my refurbished Nobilette frame.

I've added a few pics of the finished bicycle to the Yahoo album (at the end of the thumbnails). The build up started with an old set of silver Cyclone mechanisms that had been lying around waiting for a suitable project, and which set the theme. Parts selection was heavily Suntour, with a Superbe 2nd generation brake set (the ones with the red rubber bits), Supebe pro hubs laced to Torelli Master silver rims, 80's Cyclone Aero cranks, Nitto bar and stem, SR Laprade post, Stronglight A-9 headset, Concor buff saddle and the shift levers and track style quill pedals by Campagnolo (every bike needs a little Campag) with ICS toe clips. Suntour parts still needed: DT shift levers with the cute gum covers (braze on style pliz!), Suntour 27.0 seat post and maybe a Suntour headset.

I've only managed a short test ride, but the bike has impeccable manners. This is no touring frame, but doesn't ride like a specialized criterium bike either. It's easy to keep going in a straight line and gives good comfort over rough pavement. The BB hanger is stout and she snaps into turns with authority. Very nice indeed, but I need to try her over longer routes to check the ride comfort. She weighed a reasonable 23.5 pounds, with fairly stout clinchers.

Thanks to everyone who contributed, especially: Cecile Corpuz, Nitro Bob, Steve Willis of the Bike Stand, Rivendell, Dave Neuhaus, Steve Maasland and Matt Assenmacher. Hurry up, Spring!
