>From Bob Brown's blog: http://bobbrowncycles.blogspot.com/ "There's brass all over the shell, and lots of copper showing. The copper is a direct indicator of overheating during brazing. When you overheat the brass filler to the point that it boils, the zinc is boiled off leaving the copper." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Didn't some manufacturer's tack tubes together with copper and then do the brazing? Not having the frame in hand (it's hard to tell brass from copper in the picture) makes me wonder. No doubt that Falcon is no piece of artwork! My Raleigh Super Course seemed to be fully brazed at all joints(defying that rumor) and did show some bits of copper consistent with being tacked together. Not that it's in the same league as that Pinarello. There were a few drips in the paint near the lugs that were finally revealed to be drips of brass after all.
