Fifty-Eight Years Ago - Coppi Wins Milano-San Remo

19th March, 1948... Fausto Coppi (Bianchi) launches his decisive attack on the Capo Mele, 30 kms from the San Remo. By the finish he will gain 5'17" over his breakaway companions Fermo Camellini and Vittorio Rossello (Legnano), seen here struggling in vain to hold Coppi's wheel.

For the 1948 season, Camellini raced for Métropolis-Dunlop while in France, but did he have a second contract for racing in Italy?
