Subject: [CR]Aluminum vs Steel - on hub flanges

Thanks to everyone for their help with my Campy hub questions.

Today I tried to build up those hubs with vintage Robergel spokes.

It turns out that the bend in the spokes is too short for the Record flanges (3mm thick). The same spokes work fine on Sturmey Archer AW hubs (2mm thick steel flanges).

This is relevant for the Aluminum vs Steel discussion. It shows how the design of similar parts change when using different materials. The design changes in such a way that reasonably reliable and long lasting parts can be built.
