Peter,

Though you haven't been down to Cirque', don't let the click of cleats snapping fool you, there's so much to celebrate of the bicycle, you would certainly get a good dose of bicycle ecstacy for the trip. I've been down there four times now and am really upset that I can't make it this year! I will be back next year, and if you're willing, I'd be happy to have you join me for the trip. I will warn you, I go for the whole thing, getting down there early on Thursday and not returning until Monday. I've asked my wife to go, but she wisely knows that I'd be upset paying attention to her when I could be immersing myself in bike think/talk/riding/lore/ooghing and aaghing. When you finally talk to and get to know a bunch of the folks you've only corresponded with, you can get an appreciation for all those people who have our sport at heart and get some friends in the process.

Regards, and happy trails.

Dan Artley in Parkton,

Had a nice ride on the Eastern Shore of Maryland Sunday on the Jack Taylor w/ASC and Toeclips. I was the only one in the group wearing sneakers.

I just gotta say I love that sound. I never

OH NO!! Don't tell me that the so-called "Classic Rendezvous' getogether to celebrate the classic lightweight bicycle is done to the clacking, metallic cacophony of of CLIPLESS pedals?!! No wonder I've not attended. What's next, a seminar on great Spandex Cirque du Soleil jerseys Eddy Merckx and Tommy Simpson didn't wear? Or how did Coppi do that without indexing?? Or.... ssshh... we really wish this lugged steel stuff was carbon fibre?

I despair.
