Hello listfriends,

Offered for your consideration for purchase here is a frameset and 75% o f the original kit of an early '70s--said to have been older stock purch ased in '73, previous owner said '71 but that seems early--typical black
Huret outfitted Raleigh Competition in Very Good Condition. Original down to the black Carlton brake lever hoods, but missing: wheel s, rear derailleur, seatpost, and saddle. These items had been swapped o ut for non-spec parts by the time the bike came to me. Original, remaining parts include: Huret Jubilee front der. and shifters , TA 'Professionel' chainset (52/42), GB stem and bars, good black cloth
tape, complete Weinmann brakeset with factory perforated levers. Beauti ful original chrome headset. Original pedals. Paint is good for age, with clean logos and excellent lining, though the
top tube transfers are thinned slightly, knee rub I suppose. Good chrom e on the forks, intact 531 decals, rear triangle is painted. One flaw is
a few spots of surface rust--apparently perspiration induced--on the to p of the tob tube. largest is about the size of a button, back by the se atlug. Smaller bits in a row along the topmost of top tube near the head lug. These to me are what pull overall rating down just a little from 'e xcellent'. I can supply jpegs, including 'before' shots as I had been using it--27"
wheels in place of 700c tubs (either size loks nice on the bike), long- cage rear derailleur. Again, just to be clear, I've removed anything not
original to the bike. Add wheels, rear derailleur to fit the Huret drop out, seatpin and saddle, and away you go. Rear spacing is about 123 mm. I ran five-speed, looked like six-speed could be an option--or certainly
an ultra-six. Asking price is $365--(400 shipped in the "lower 48"). I thank you for y our time, and welcome your questions. I plan to list the bike on eBay su nday if not sold by then. Tom Ward New York City
