Willie

I fully understand a reluctance to take non-cash payments. At a swap or jumble, that is quite properly the only accepted payment.

However, on international transactions with different currencies, there is inevitably a problem with requires a commission of some kind to resolve. Here in the US, I do not maintain a stash of sterling or Euros to send thru the mail(?!) to pay those in the UK or Europe whom I have purchased items from. Then, when you receive my US dollars, you must pay a commission to have them converted into sterling.

You MUST understand the problems of the transaction from BOTH your optic and that of the guy at the other end. I do NOT have another viable way of sending money that is cost effective for sums of say less than $800 or 500 pounds. I can NOT walk into my bank and purchase a Sterling denominated money order for a nominal charge to send to you thru the mail. Thus when you restrict your auctions to payment ways that are easy and convenient to you (which is certainly your option!) you will inevitably cause some bidders to not bid. (better for the rest of us buyers!). And of course you will most likely never know.

Paypal, (in spite of its cost and various faults), does make it VERY easy....

Disclosure: stockholder in EBay and (by default) Paypal.
