Great suggestion Ray but it does not actually address the real problem. Since the inception of the list (almost 10 years ago) list members have discussed the current racers, current races and current bikes, all of which are of course off topic.

Every year the same people bring up the current TdF and every year Dale reminds them it's off topic. Same with the "current bikes are crap" subject, "current bike shops are pathetic" subject, "younger guys with plastic wonder bikes and plastic clothing are poseurs" subject which are all off topic now just as they were off topic ten years ago.

The list members (none of them new members) that knowingly pursue this topics every year always have the same response when reminded that they are off topic... "I'll stop when Dale tells me to stop... who made you the list police!?" BALONEY!!! Toss 'em all off the list!!!
