Snipped from Joe Bender-Zanoni-

The first shop I worked in had an owner so gruff that the mechanics were not allowed to talk while they worked except concerning immediate business!

When I started at Hans Ohrt in Beverly Hills in 1974, I was set outside to work with the primary repair mechanic, Willie T. Brooks, bike mechanic by day, jazz drummer by night, almost every night, his gigs ended at 2am and he was at work by 8:30am everyday. While conversation only related to work was requested, that did not stop Willie T. from providing outrageous leading comments to the women who were leaving their cars to patronize the next door beauty salon, comments I could never get away with, but they loved it, and even expected it.

The back door of Hans Ohrt, where the umbrella was to keep the tools from burning your hands.
