I'll agree with that sentiment. Today I took a Hetchins up to the top of Palos Verdes, to the end of Crest Drive, just below those balls (radomes, actually) you can see from the flatlands. Best views of Santa Catalina Island and across the whole LA basin I've ever seen. Brilliantly clear. Stood on the bluff in San Pedro looking for whales, but it's a little late in the season, so no luck. Did see some a couple weeks ago, though.
