Sam, I would say this is probably your lucky day. Sounds like a Selbach transfer. Not sure but I think all original Selbachs were marked on the underside of the down tube just above the bottom bracket, they mostly are. Can't say about the Carter made ones. Be lucky which I think you might well be Mick.
