Dear Hilary, I am sorry that you are no longer involved in the magazine. I am not a member but it was a great publication and it does you proud. You did a wonderful job in raising and promoting awareness of our British cycling heritage. All those magazines with your name in them will be there for posterity. Think you are possibly wrong on the number of builders FW employed I would have said him and one other at the most. Did you ever go into Kennington Road? Very long tiny shop and the basement where they built the frames was what I can remember very cramped. Yes conservative is a polite description down-right old fashioned more accurate. How on earth could he compete with Rensch, Russ, Hetchins, Holdsworth etc post 36. By making his old fashion racing frames which were admirably suitable for touring. Still racing frames of a different era just like the 50's or 60's racers which were the type everyone used for touring in the 70's. On the Cyclo's don't just assume these were for touring they were still widely used up until the 40's for record breaking. Now that is racing! Frank
