Mick came very close with the translation, the sole modifications would be:

In Montelimar, where the stage finished yesterday, there died a Basque cyclist from Urretxu Spain in 1950: Jesus Mujica, in whose honor there is a cross and a plaque at the entrance to the town, at the exact spot where he suffered a fatal accident with another cyclist, Raúl Rey.

This is now forgotten. Although born in Urretxu on September 18, 1929 he held French nationality and in books is named Jesus-Jacques Moujica. There is however no reason to ignore him, in as much as he is the only Basque to have stood on the podium of the Paris-Roubaix. He was third in 1949, in an eventful race with two co-winners André Mahé and Serse Coppi. The same year he achieved a great victory in the Bordeaux-Paris, of 586 kilometers, in a time of 17h 01m 49s, averaging 34,409 km/h. He was also third in the Paris-Brussels. That same year he won the Challange Sedis, for the honour of best French coureur of the season.
