I have checked the CR archives, and note that it has been suggested that some of the Normandy hubs have a date code of MM YY below the Normandy name. I looked at mine last night - the code is 25 78. Is this really a date code, or only partially a date code, or...?

First, "RFG" is the manufacturer of the bottom bracket shell. Now, the cutout lugs are not unusual for LeJeune, but the pearl paint would be. (At least from my experience.) So it does sound like a circa 1980s bike. Didn't Normandy hubs have some sort of date code engraved/stamped in the shells?
