Just an observation: Lots of the bike catalogs show the bikes not equipped with toe clips and straps and don't list any in the specifications. I'm guessing that lots of bikes were sold in the stores without toe clips and straps. Back in the day (let's say sixties and before) I think it might have been almost the norm for the average guy to ride without toe clips and straps unless you were a "Racer".
