It seems strange that these frames are aparently as rare as Hilary implies. When I was a yougster there were quite a few of them aroiund, and they were largely from the 30s and 40s..all Chater Lea lugs, head-clips, D-section forks , slack angles and the like...but very light...and I had assumed that they were made somewhere near Leeds.
I bought one of these awhile back, a 23" one in dark blue..think it's a Pintail..vintage class. But only last year I bid for on UK-Ebay, and won a 21.5"Planet Puma. I was the only bidder and the price was reasonably modest. To my surprise I received a very attractive late 40s/early 50s modern lightweight club touring frame complete with b/o Mafac brakes, and all the original black enaamel and red lining. The enamel badge is still in place. It is a very elegant frame, with a slender sweeping fork rake; a true British thoroughbred! Much of my surprise was that I had assumed that Planet had disappeared before the WWII.
