I cannot speak to concours and show bike authenticity.

For riding, I have had success with Sram PC 48, 58, 68. These are the same chain except for the nickel plating of the side plates. 48 = no plating. 58 = one side. 68 = both sides. I am told the intended purpose of the nickel is to provide a smooth surface to enhance index shifting with the increased quantity of cogs. And, yes, it does provide some protection against corrossion and sure does looke nice all polished and shiney.
