Just to chime in on the subject of suitable chains and freewheels for classics, it's my experience that usually a used chain and a used freewheel work well together. Being typical Dutch (economical, environmentally conscious :) ) I had the practice of saving a chain after a racing season, instead of throwing it away. So, I had quite a few chains, like DID's and Sedis of course. I keep using them again and again. Because I have many more bikes than before, and ride a lot less, wear is not really a problem. If it works, it works.
