Would you believe it, the first time this year I can get to a VCC 'ride' (East Midlands section) and what happens? the bike I intend to ride throws a spanner in the works.... the machine in question is my French made1947-ish Semper 650b wheeled road/tourer....the front brake which is an alloy 'ROTA' item broke whilst adjusting the quick release VERY carefully..the brake has always been a bit bent there (the arm that carries the quick release) so I carefully applied a rag wrapped spanner and SNAP off it came.....has anyone got a replacement it is a nice curvy alloy brake with ROTA cast onto the top arm and 1/2 BALLON NOR al on the bottom arm. On the back of the arms are cast ALUVAC 3910 (top arm) and ALUVAC 3911 (on the bottom and broken arm) there are photo's of the machine on Blackbirds french page which show the shape of the brake ....http://www.blackbirdsf.org/french/semper/ . I would like a direct replacement if possible or a similar period pair so I can get the machine on the road ready for the next run, the rear brake attaches via a small alloy bracket that fixes the brake caliper to the top of the brake bridge and NOT through it!
