Richard, are you going to use the original Stronglight cranks? If so, there may be a problem using an ISO taper. Stronglight arms would sometime "bottom out" on ISO (Campy and clone) tapers, that is, the inside of the crank would hit the inside end of the taper before the crank arm tightened up on the taper. In this situation, continuing to to tighten the crank bolts will achieve nothing except perhaps snapping the heads off the bolts. This was a separate problem from whether you have the right axle length. JIS tapers, on the other hand, usually worked OK with Stronglight arms.

I have need of determing the proper bottom bracket spindle length and off-set.

I wish to install an ISO taper bb spindle (Read: Not Stronglight taper) within a 1974 Raleigh Super Course Mk. II.

Would the same spindle specification be common to all the Raleigh Reynolds 531 frames? Thas is: Super Course Mk. II, International, Gran Sport, Competition and possibly Pro. (Yes, I am aware that the infamous Campag vs. CPSC (abbrv?) issue may be relevant here.) I am hoping the number stamped into an International spndle will serve me to shop for what is needed.

Why am I asking? For reason that I have completely forgotton how to measure a spindle. Well, it's been a long, long time. For measuring, I do need to see the illustration as to where one actually reads the dimension.

Thank you.
