Just back from Cirque '06....

After spending an entire day drooling over Edward Albert's late-'40s Wilier La Triestina, I am quite certain it is finished in some form of actual copper plating. Histories of the company refer to a "special process"... something that minimizes patina over time. Edwards bike has some transparent copper paint touch-up work in high-wear-and-scratches areas (right chainstay, bb shell, etc.), but the main finish is clearly copper plating of some sort. Very deep, very red, very brown. Very, very distinctive.
