Subject: [CR]Best Bikes at Cirque

First, thanks to Dale for sponsoring a simply TERRIFIC event!!! Sorry that I had to depart early on Sunday morning, missing the "Show Competition". While I would have liked to display my Condor Path and 1976 Masi GC, the kind words from many attendees about my two bikes was award enough. Thanks to all that appreciated them and shared your comments, especially to Ray.

Now my thoughts on the best bikes at the Cirque. All of the bikes were beautiful, but in my opinion the absolute best were those that were taken out on the roads of Greensboro for actual use. John on his fixed gear was simply amazing, especially on the fast paced Saturday morning long ride! A special mention to Richard "Squeaky" Sachs, helping me to keep pace with his Look pedals. Bill Talbot on that beautiful green Witcomb (thanks for all your great stories on the ride). Jack Gabus riding that newly restored and highly sought after 60s vintage Pog. John Crump, still pedaling super-strong in his 70s, and such a fantastic friendly personality to boot!!! Rita and Paul Lee pounding away on that incredible original 73 Schwinn Paramount Tandem,,,two of the absolute nicest people I met. Billy Rounds strong riding on that handsome Rickert, and for his many conversations. George Allen's incredible fitness in catching the group on Saturdays ride on his near-mint Raleigh Pro. Ken Sanford on that amazingly pretty Carpenter fixed gear. Peter Weigle for being the best framebuilder in current existence, for riding his machines, and for being the nicest guy you could ever meet. And for all the others who braved the busy streets of Greensboro on their vintage steeds, this in my opinion is what it is all about, enjoying what these bikes were made for, to RIDE! Sure it's nice to have a contest, but boy do the bikes look better on the road than displayed in an auditorium.

So sorry to have missed meeting Tom Hayes in person, but look forward to doing so in the near future.

Truly appreciate being able to attend and to personally meet most of you. It was an honor and pleasure.

Regards, Kevin Kruger - Grantville, PA
