The latest Vintage Bicycle Quarterly has "Part 2" of the article "Riding with Classic Derailleurs." For each derailleur discussed, there is a timeline. The one for the Simplex SLJ includes all the info I could find.

That said, I didn't dwell on the various models of the plastic derailleurs.

The magazine is in the mail. Expect it within the next 1-3 weeks.
