I am in a state of deep shock! I WON the bloody thing!!!!!! when I wrote the posting last night about winning and NOT WINING I had NO idea that my dear 1950 Mercian had won. I know that probably apart from the bars, (Prob later GBs) the bike was pretty much correct, down to the Dunlop #3s on the sprints, even the plus 4s and old shoes, the GB letter hairnet was of course much later, BUT my object in the hole display was to educate and interest the many at the show. THANK YOU, THANK YOU,THANK YOU, As you have all figured out by now, I am a BIKE NUT, the 5-6yrs I spent racing in England (UK??) before I came over to the USA in 1957 where the finest, I left behind many close mates, memories, (like Ted Ernsts), Dave Moulton and I talked at dinner, what a pleasure,we also had many things in common, NOW to hear the news, icing on the cake, or a PIECE OF CAKE as we use to say!!! ONE other thing I wuld like to point out, I also STILL ride the bloody things.None of my machines sit idle, they are 2 Clauds, 2 Mercians, 1 Bates BAR, 1 Holdsworth laquelda, 1 Vittoria, all ridden, Next week I will riding 470 miles on my new Mercian, in the mountains,Going to KICK SOME BUT!
