Subject: [CR]Huret Svelto derailleur cable different end? Svelto decent?

I am doing the final touches on an old Peugeot City Bike that I have (PX45 I think). It is 5 speed, with a Huret Svelto derailleur and shift lever.

A standard derailleur cable does not fit in the lever. The cable is expecting a pill shaped end with the axis of the pill perpendicular to the cable. I have never seen such a derailleur cable. Is this a standard or readily available item? Or do I file down what I have to fit?

Also, was the Huret Svelto considered a decent derailleur? It was fun to clean and rebuild, as it is so different from anything else I have worked on. I was not expecting BB in the jockey wheels. It seems like it could have been a nice unit back in its day.

Since 650b's seem back in style, I consider this bike to be on-topic. I hope that y'all don't mind the questions.

Thanks in advance, Dan Kasha Seattle, Wa.
