I rode British-built Falcons in my early teens (early 70's). They were 531 plain gauge frames, Weinmann 750/999 centrepulls, Campy derailleurs and levers, Brooks leather saddles.....really quite nice bikes, the first decent bikes I ever owned. Priced about $90!
Both came from Eatons...a now-defunct Canadian department store chain. I found it quite amazing that bikes of such quality could be found in the same store right next to the really basic, junky ten speeds of the day.
