So were all talking about the same parts:

1.) Record ROAD crankset #1049 = Right arm #751, Left arm #752, Chainrings #753

2.) Record TRACK crankset #1051 = Right arm #757, Left arm #758, Chainrings #760 (for 1/2" x 1/8").

--- These part numbers DID NOT CHANGE in Campy catalogs during the entire period [cat #14 -#18] for either Record Road or Track crank sets, in spite of any change in BCD. --- This makes distinctions between 144 & 151 BCD cranksets VERY confusing!

--- Chuck, you stated below (in your comments for "1958") that minimum chainring was 44t in cat #15 for both Road & Track... I believe this is not quite correct:

--- My catalogs #14 and #15 both shows Record ROAD ring minimum was 44t [Cat 14: page 22 & Cat 15: page 20], however, the PISTA ring minimum was 46T [Cat 14 page 23 & Cat 15, page 21].

--- The first mention I see of a change in Track chainring minimum size from 46 to 44t is in catalog #16 [page 21].

--- I had initially inferred that this change coincided with a reduction to 144 BCD for the Track as well as for the Road cranks which were reduced from 44 to 42t at that time.

--- HOWEVER This ASSUMPTION on my part has now been refuted by other members who claim that later TRACK cranks were still using 151 BCD.

--- So, has anyone ever tried to fit a Campy 44t ring onto a 151 BCD crank? Or seen a 151 chainring with 44t?

--- My assumptions were all based entirely on simply what tangible data I have at hand. I too recall "seeing" 151 BCD Track cranksets well into the 1970s. However, seeing them later does NOT mean that they were not actually manufactured prior to Cat.16 - circa 1969... Also, could not the older Pista cranksets have been purchased from a retail shop at a later date?

Just so we are all on the same page. Campagnolo catalogs were not issued every year: Catalog #13 - 1955 Catalog #14 - 1960 Catalog #15 - 1967 Catalog #16 - 1968 Catalog #16 Supplement - 1971 Catalog #17 - 1974

1958 - The Record 5-pin cotterless crankset (ROAD and TRACK versions) is introduced; 151 mm bolt circle, 44 tooth minimum chainring, pedal hole dust caps, relieved spider and raised pedal lip. First shown in Catalog #14 (1960).

1966 - The Record 5-pin cotterless ROAD crankset changed to 144 mm bolt circle (Ted Ernst). Minimum chainring 41 tooth. 144 mm ROAD crankset not shown in Catalog #15 (1967).

144 mm ROAD crankset appears for first time in Catalog #16 (1968).

1974 - Super Record 144 mm TRACK crankset appears in Catalog #17 (1974). Please, I'd welcome any additions to the Campagnolo Timeline from CR list members!
