There was something very sad about this auction:
an off-topic bike from a very on-topic company...sorta.
I wrote to Mondia of Switzerland some years ago, and got a nice reply, and brochure, and they claimed to know nothing about the older Mondia we all know. As if the older Mondia company had ceased to exist altogether.
Although it seems crazy that the old Mondia is not somehow connected to the new Mondia. I think the two companies are connected in some way but my correspondent was unaware of it.
anyone know about a connection, if any?
Either way, seems a sad day that such a bike could come from such a storied company. That said, the current Mondia does seem to make some interesting bikes. Even the paint looks vaguely in the old Mondia style sometimes..maybe that's just a swiss thing though.
