I used the "Extreme" tape as well, but when I flatted I was able to remove the tire on the road and enough adhesive was left to hold my spare securely for the ride home.

At the time I bought the tape I was unaware that there were two different varieties. I've been using the regular tape since but haven't had occasion to replace a tire yet.
