http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/bik/179241959.html. No connection to seller, etc. I don't know Basso, so I make no judgment about any statement.

I have copied seller, so you can refer to CR posting.

"Basso Gap 56cm Road Bike: Beautiful, Classic, Rare - $1200 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Reply to: sale-179241959@craigslist.org <mailto:sale-179241959@craigslist.org?subject=Basso%20Gap%2056cm%20Road%20Bike:%20Beautiful,%20Classic,%20Rare%20-%20$1200> Date: 2006-07-07, 1:02AM EDT I have been the only owner of this beauty. I bought it in 1980 from Turin bike shop in Evanston, IL. It was in the first batch of Basso Gaps shipped to the US. My friend (who worked at the shop) and I scoured all 30+ frames to find the most cherry, perfect, blemish-free one of the bunch. It is truly a magnificent bike. We built it up from all new components I got from Turin as well. The Gap has been Basso\u2019s most popular model and was handmade in Italy from Columbus SL tubing and is completely lugged. Frame and fork weigh just 4.4lbs. It is meticulously fillet-brazed and carefully finished to a sleek smooth joint at the head tube. Full braze-ons and one of the most beautiful Italian finishes available round out the Basso Gap. Almost all components are either Campagnolo Nuovo Record or Cinelli \u2013 two of the best quality Italian manufacturers in the history of cycling (I list all components below). Everything works great! The bike has never been in a crash and does not have any dents, dings, or cracks. It does, however, have a couple of scratches on the seat stays (see pics). Unfortunately (well, not for you...), I never got into serious road cycling like I thought I would and so this bike has probably less than 800 miles total on it. I\u2019ve carried it around with me wherever I\u2019ve gone \u2013 keeping it in storage basically the entire time. As such, there are some minor things that need attention. I would imagine that the crank, headset, and hubs need to have their grease repacked, the brake lever hoods have dry-rot (see pics and below information on how to get new ones), and the tires/tubes need to be replaced. Other than that, the bike is a little dirty (see the chainwheel pic...), but otherwise good to go! $1200.00 o.b.o.

The bike includes: Frame and fork: 56 cm Basso Gap, Blue with chrome chain stays Columbus tubing Campagnolo dropouts Cinelli bottom bracket

Other Components: Campagnolo Nuovo Record: Front derailleur Rear derailleur Gear shift levers (downtube) Crank Crank arms Pedals Brakes Brake pads (Yes, even the brake pads are Campy!!! I never wore them out\u2026) Brake levers Headset Seat post Hubs Quick release levers/mechanism 46/49 Chainwheels

Cinelli handlebars Cinelli stem Brooks leather saddle (beautiful brown Team Pro \u2013 alone worth $125) Rigida wheel rims (700c) Regina freewheel

Brake lever hoods (rubber): You can get a new pair for $20 at Cambria Bikes: http://www.cambriabike.com/shopexd.asp?id=23573 "
