Tony, I wonder if a trick I was taught by Bill Ward back when he was involved in bikes, might work for the 72 mm Cinelli. He once pointed out that the difference between thick and thin cups is about 2 mm, which is the same as the difference between an English/ French BB shell and an Italian shell. Thus an axle made for an English BB with thin cups will fit an Italian shell with thick cups and vice versa. Assuming the Cinelli 72 mm shell used cups with standard Italian thread, perhaps using a axle made for Italian thin cups in combination with a set of Italian thick cups might work. Wouldn't be original of course, but might keep the think working OK.

ca. 1963 Cinelli frame and why there was this funny seatlug leaving the

seatpost without contact to the seat tube. I only finished putting the

bike together on Thursday.

I wonder if they also brazed the sleeve into the seatlugs of B models?

I´m still not certain about mine as it is not in original paint, and I

have been wondering why there´s chrome on the (SC sloping crown) fork

and none on the frame.

The b/b on my bike rumbles horribly. It´s my luck that I´ve got the

model with the wider b/b shell, so no modern stuff will fit. The axle itself is quite ok, but the cups and balls will have to be replaced. Where do I get these older Campag spares? Please keep in mind that I´m

not really into Campag (the whole Cinelli bike was a chance find), so I

hope I haven´t overlooked anything obvious.
