Apparently the Schwalbe is the tyre (you must spell it this way for this size) to get, but no longer made according to Sheldon Brown, who formerly stocked this tyre in the US.

I bought Michelins from St. John's Street Cycles a few years ago and they were expensive and fairly clunky. In theory the 597 is the same size as the Schwinn tire in the US, but whatever tires are around to that standard here are horrid and of too large a section.
