That's one of the death stems John Allen warns about (http://www.bikexprt.com/witness/product/stems.htm - thank you Sheldon for the link), so whoever buys the bike, please replace the stem. It is a lot more likely to snap without warning than most stems. It still probably won't, but the stakes are too high.

The frame is semi-mass produced -- some might say "not a real Masi", but in light of what has become of that marque in recent years, you could do worse. I think the price is a little high if you discount the Masi cachet, which this frame has little claim to.
