That was my first guess, too. Illustration in my copy of the early Campy catalog is not real clear. But, I found an old print I'd made from a color photo jpg someone once sent me, showing more clearly those derailleur arm clamps installed on his bike... and, these ain't them.

Chuck is absolutely right... of course. Them babies at auction would be yer ol' Campy part #662: "Fascetta". It's just the upper clamp bracket, the part which clamps onto the chain stay for the actual chain tensioner mechanism which bolts through that open hole and hangs below. This specific small part wasn't even mentioned or numbered in the 1953 catalog. But, it was in the next - (Catalog #13, c.1955) - which also had a better illustration, too. ~ Go Chuck Go!
