Who've you been listening to? 531 and modern air hardening steels are designed for use with brass/bronze. You aren't going to hurt them using silver.

I've often wondered if silver bearing solders, with a liquidus of 415F, and a tensile strength of 15 kpsi wouldn't be sufficient if used with lugs with a large contact area, such as Pacenti's Artisan lugs. http://www.bikelugs.com/images/productphotos/pcd_artisan.jpg

However since I've no problem using silver based brazing fillers yet have never mastered low temp soldering, I'm not going to try it.
