Subject: [CR]Atom drum brake & 48 spoke lacing for tandem

FYI, there was an article in Bicycling in the 70s about drilling holes between the 36 holes of that drum brake, and then lacing 2 of 3 holes to get 48 spoke laced wheels. I did this on a Gitane tandem in the 70s using 14 gauge DT spokes...............Peter

"...2) Drilling varied, ....... Installing modern high quality spokes requires drilling new holes between the old ones, and leaves you with 36 spoke wheels (I can't remember drillings other than 36, except for an acquaintance who laced his with 71)...." ============================================ Peter Brueggeman San Diego California USA pbrueggeman(AT)ucsd.edu
