The cyclometers are calibrated in miles. They were made for different size wheels, the wheel size is cast into the body of the cyclometer.

It's hard to see why there would be a safety problem. The little wheel only advances 60 or 72 deg per wheel rev. Ride around for a while at lower speeds and be sure that the mounting and the pin attached to the spokes are secure. After all, speeds well over 20 mph are not that difficult to achieve on a Sports!

Are these cyclometers calibrated in miles (and therefore geared for a specific wheel size)? Or are they simply revolution counters?
