My 1934 News Chronicle Cycling Annual contains an advert for a Veeder cyclometer that looks very much like a Lucas. The basic model is a pricy 9/9d- I am sure a Lucas was 7/6d twenty five years later- but for an outrageous 24/-d the rich could purchase a model with a trip recorder. Incidentally I used to slip a valve rubber over the striker to prevent the annoying tick. They came with every puncture outfit but were surplus to requirements so replacements were plentiful.
