Actually , Kim said he meant to say crank, but you are correct, this fork is a bit later. A 1970 PX-10 fork crown would have been painted black except for a raised ridge down the middle that might have been chromed. It's possible they painted over the chrome except on the ridge, and the paint has worn off this one, but the ridge is missing and the crown shape isn't quite right for 1970. Also, I think that in 1970, the fork rake should have been a bit longer. I do think this is a Peugeot 531 fork, though, and probably no newer than mid-70's, as the fork decal is the old style, prior the the Reynolds Tube Co. ones which appeared in the mid to late 70's. The frame is not mid-70's though. The decals, lugs and components put it in the early 70's.

I agree, the original crank was Stronglight model 93 and levers were Mafac, like the calipers. Also, this bike probably came with SuperChampion tubular rims, which were changed out to 27" clinchers. Probably rebuilt with the original hubs, as he gold label Normandy Competitions with Simplex QRs are correct.

Perhaps the original owner couldn't deal with the unique Stronglight extractor thread and perhaps the French pedal thread. Don't understand the DiaCompe levers, unless he didn't like the Mafac half hoods.

If by so small, you mean the 165mm cranks, I agree the original Stronglight would have been 170mm.
