Subject: [CR]Help needed on olympic TTT bike

well, since we're discussing aero stuff....

I'm in need of some info/ leads on info etc on a team time trial bike that was one used in the '84 olympics by the U.S. team (Dale Said it could slide through as designed in '83) Since almost all the parts are special, or modified, I'll have to make or modify lots of parts

Specifically, I'm looking for pictures of the bikes as they were used. I've got the handlebars mostly figured out, since there are plenty of pictures of the track version, and an article in Bicycling had loads of info about the hubs. At one time I talked to Mike Melton, and got some info about the bars, enough try to make reasonable copies. (Alan Bernstein owened the bike at the time)

But the rear brake area, and the drivetrain in general remains a bit of a mystery. I had thought it would use shimano Ax parts, but a campagnolo derailleur fits. And the rear brake has almost no room to mount anything. A modified AX might work, or it may have been something totally different.

So I'm looking for photos etc that would show stuff like this, the clearer the better. Or if anyone here actually worked on the bikes as a mechanic etc and remembers what was used, and could clarify some of these questions that would be great. There are some other little questions too, so any picture would probably help

If you have slides/negatives etc, I could pay to have copies made.

Thanks,
Steve Birmingham
