Bob,

Certainly the Italians used the crosshair decal for a while past '72,

but I think in much more rare cases. I've seen the crosshair decal

with a red background and the blue background. These are technically

quite different in that the decal without the background is VERY

delicate and that is the reason those dissappeared after a short

time. I'm sure the ones with background were used a while longer,

since they didn't cause problems. I have also seen crosshair decals

on a number of Italian repaints from Masi. They obviously didn't

throw everything away and found a use for some of them for repaints.

Generally speaking, I still consider the crosshair decal approiate

for a '72 Masi and far less approiate for later bikes. Since they

don't exist anyway (although I have "made" them out of later decals

with some extra work), I don't go out of my way to get people

thinking that's what is proper. Consider the guy who has to apply the

decals, Bob. The exceptions to the rule do not become the rule around

here.
