I still cannot make out the identity of one of the other bikes which was shown fairly clearly during the "Cinzano 100" race segment.

Just before our young hero catches up with the Italian team, he comes beside and then passes one last rider. This was a blonde American wearing the famous red, yellow & black "TI Raleigh" team jersey. The bike, however, was certainly not a Raleigh.

It was orange with a blue head tube and blue seat tube panel - similar to the colors of the early 70s Holdsworth Professional team bikes. The only detail I could make out on the headbadge was what appeared to be a black letter "V" arising from approximately the center of a round white oval.

It is probably quite obvious to someone out there, but I must confess my complete ignorance. Hope someone can quickly solve this minor mystery, so I can sleep peacefully tonight. ~ Thanks!

Here is something from the long-ago archives. I think it's the same bike you are referring to, but it's been a long time since I've seen the film now.

Chuck and the group: Those were most certainly interesting tidbits. The fact that VanDeVelde's dad was involved makes me feel a tad older. What I was wondering is does anyone here remember the orange-painted Hi-E Cosmopolitan in the film? I was told it was ridden by a guy who is now a gal if that stirs anyone's trivia memory bank. There aren't too many uncrashed and extant-- well not too many were even built.
