Subject: [CR]Help ID new Peugeot

Hello,

I need help from all those Peugeot experts out there in identifying t he model and year of a Peugeot I recently purchased on eBay for what I beli eve was a very good price. Sorry if I bid against any fellow CR list membe rs... I finally found a nice Early 80’s Peugeot in my size.

The bike is labeled Super Competition on the top tube, painted pearl w hite with orange decals and a beautiful fully chromed fork. The frame has Reynolds 531 tubing and forks (not 531c), Simplex dropouts, Nervex lugs, un der BB plastic cable guide, and SN – B1029714. The frame came with the following parts:

Maillard 700 Team Issue Hubs

Mavic clincher Rims, with non-Stainless Steel spokes

Simplex QRs

Maillard freewheel

Stronglight Cranks set

Stronglight BB

Maillard pedals

Campagnolo NR Pat.79 rear and front derailleur (more than likely a replacem ent for Super SLJ derailleurs)

Spidel side pull brakes w/MAFAC pads (I believe these are MAFAC sidepull br akes)

MAFAC levers also marked Spidel on the front of the lever blades

headset marked “Racelight” that looks a lot like a Strongli ght V4

Atax stem marked Peugeot and Atax bars marked Franco Italia

Simplex seat post

Ideale 2001 saddle

Zefal HP pump

My guess is this bike is from the early 80’s, perhaps an ‘8 1 PXN? I should have some photos on the wool jersey site as soon as I clea n her up.

Any help is always appreciated.

Thanks, Rich Robinson
