The most famous Legnano riders, I believe, were Gino Bartali and a young Fausto Coppi, before he moved over to Bianchi.

So was there a connection between Legnano Bank and Legnano cycles? BTW, there are two "n"s in the bike, don't know about the bank.

Many thanks to everyone who took the trouble in replying to my Wolsit and Elan chainring enquiry. I am most grateful and fell very priviledged to be now part of such an august list. This is what I found out so far. Wolsit was originally a collabartion with Wolseley Cars and the Italian Legano bank, hence name Wols from car and It from Italy. Due to the list leads it now seems that it became part of the Legano empire under Emilo Bozzi. Wolsit was a very famous make prior to the Great War and in the 1920's. They had a trade team and these riders were all members of this famous winning team. Gaetamo Belloni, Piero Bestetti, Costante Girardengo. Their arch rivals were the Legano boys whoes riders of the period were Giovanni Brunero and Pietro Linari. Does anyone know of any others? Found a picture of a 1920's Wolsit team bike in the Bartali museum. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=http://www.ciclomuseo-bartali.it/testi/biciclette/biciclettawolsit.htm&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=4&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dwolsit%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D Bert Palmer Greenford UK.
