I felt I should defend myself even though you chose not to mention me by name.
As an active time trialist at all distances and a pursuit track rider my time was taken up by these two disciplines. Whilst I can honestly repeat I had no interest in the road racing at the time although I had every respect for those who chose to support The British League Of Racing Cyclists. Some of my fellow cyclists were members and it did'nt lead to any disagreement between ourselves but left each other to follow our respective interests.
In your remark refering to National Cyclists Union and any animosity that supposingly prevailed, as far as I was concerned was not ardent member but only belonged to them through my club registration, without this affiliation I could'nt have taken part in their events.
